❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What is a QR code? β–Ό

A QR (Quick Response) code is a type of matrix barcode that can store various types of data. When scanned with a smartphone camera or QR reader app, it can open websites, display text, connect to WiFi, share contact information, and much more. QR codes were invented in 1994 by Denso Wave for tracking automotive parts, but are now widely used in marketing, payments, and information sharing.

What types of QR codes can I create? β–Ό

Our generator supports 8 types of QR codes: URL (opens websites), Text (displays any text), Email (opens email client with pre-filled content), Phone (initiates a phone call), SMS (sends text messages), WiFi (connects to wireless networks), vCard (shares contact information), and WhatsApp (opens WhatsApp chat). Each type is optimized for its specific use case.

What is error correction level? β–Ό

Error correction allows QR codes to be read even when partially damaged or obscured. There are 4 levels: Low (L) - 7% recovery, smallest QR code; Medium (M) - 15% recovery, balanced; Quartile (Q) - 25% recovery, better; High (H) - 30% recovery, best. Higher levels create more complex QR codes but are more resilient to damage. We recommend Medium for most uses, High if you plan to add a logo overlay.

How do I download my QR code? β–Ό

After generating your QR code, you can download it in three formats: PNG - Best for web use with transparency support, JPG - Smaller file size, good for printing, SVG - Vector format that scales infinitely without quality loss, perfect for logos and large prints. Simply click the download button for your preferred format, and the file will be saved to your device.

Can I customize the colors? β–Ό

Yes! You can customize both the foreground (QR code pattern) and background colors. Use the color pickers or enter hex color codes directly. Tip: For best scanning results, use high-contrast combinations like black on white, dark blue on white, or dark colors on light backgrounds. Avoid light foreground colors on light backgrounds as they may not scan reliably.

What size should my QR code be? β–Ό

QR code size depends on its use: Digital use (websites, social media) - 256-400px is sufficient. Business cards - At least 300px for print quality. Posters/flyers - 500-800px for good print quality. Large banners/billboards - 1000px or higher. The QR code should be at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) when printed to ensure reliable scanning. Our slider lets you choose from 100px to 1000px.

How do I create a WiFi QR code? β–Ό

Creating a WiFi QR code is easy: 1) Select the "WiFi" tab, 2) Enter your network name (SSID), 3) Enter the password, 4) Choose the encryption type (WPA/WPA2 for most modern networks, WEP for older ones, or "No Password" for open networks), 5) Check "Hidden Network" if applicable. When someone scans this QR code with their phone, they'll be prompted to connect to your WiFi automatically without typing the password!

What is a vCard QR code? β–Ό

A vCard QR code contains contact information in the vCard format (electronic business card). When scanned, it prompts the user to save your contact details directly to their phone's address book. You can include: name, organization, phone number, email, website, and address. Perfect for networking events, business cards, email signatures, and professional profiles.

Is my data safe and private? β–Ό

Absolutely! All QR code generation happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your data (URLs, text, contact info, WiFi passwords, etc.) is never sent to any server. We don't collect, store, or access your information in any way. Everything stays on your device, ensuring complete privacy and security. Even your QR code history is stored only in your browser's localStorage.

Why won't my QR code scan? β–Ό

If your QR code won't scan, check these common issues: 1) Low contrast - Make sure foreground is much darker than background, 2) Too small - Increase the size, especially for printing, 3) Too much data - Long text creates complex patterns that are harder to scan, 4) Low error correction - Increase to High (H) for better reliability, 5) Damaged/obscured - Use higher error correction if adding logos or decorations, 6) Blurry - Use higher resolution for printing.
